Booster Gold, whose real name is Michael Carter, first appeared in *Booster Gold* #1 (February 1986). He is a character from the DC Universe, originating in the 25th century.
Carter was a former college football star who was disgraced after being caught gambling on his own games. Facing a bleak future, he stole technology from the Metropolis Space Museum, including a power suit, force field belt, and time machine.
Using these stolen items, he traveled to the 20th century with the intent of becoming a superhero and achieving fame and fortune. Despite his often self-serving motivations, Booster Gold has gradually evolved into a genuine hero, frequently partnering with Blue Beetle.
